Day-to-day shopping is covered by a Co-op and smaller independents in the village, with a larger Asda, Morrisons and Tesco in Bideford a short drive away. Bideford's quay has a good range of cafés, pubs and restaurants, plus the Pannier Market for local produce. For eating out closer to home, Westward Ho! offers seafront pubs and fish and chips. Transport is road-based: the A39 links to Barnstaple in around 25 minutes, where Barnstaple station provides the Tarka Line to Exeter St Davids. Regular bus services connect Northam with Bideford, Westward Ho! and Barnstaple.
