About the MyNewHomeHub listing bot

MyNewHomeHub is a website for people moving into new-build homes. To help them find local trades, we list independent businesses such as fitted-wardrobe fitters. Our listing bot, which identifies itself as MyNewHomeHubBot, reads a few public pages on a business's own website so that a person at MyNewHomeHub can check the details before anything is shown.

What it reads

• The homepage, plus up to three more pages on the same site about the business, its services or how to contact it.
• It checks that the business offers the service, and notes the business name, the town it is based in and the contact phone number shown on the site.
• It follows the site's robots.txt and waits a few seconds between requests.

What it doesn't do

• It doesn't download or reuse images.
• It doesn't fill in forms, log in, or follow links to other websites.
• It doesn't send emails or texts.

What we keep

The business name, town and contact number as shown on the site, the addresses of the pages they came from, and short quoted passages so that a person can check them. We never show a street address. Short passages are deleted 90 days after the person has made a decision.

How to opt out

• Add this to your website's robots.txt:

  User-agent: MyNewHomeHubBot
  Disallow: /

• Or email info@mynewhomehub.co.uk and we'll remove your business and make sure it isn't listed again.
• If your business already has a listing, use the “Remove it” link on the listing page.
