Hambrook, at a glance
Schools, transport, what’s nearby.
Hambrook is one of a string of small settlements along the northern edge of Chichester Harbour, where the lanes run south towards the water and north towards the chalk of the South Downs National Park. The harbour itself is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a vast tidal landscape of creeks, saltmarsh and shingle that draws walkers, birdwatchers and sailors year-round, with Bosham's waterside village and the long sands at West Wittering both within easy reach. Chichester is the nearest city, built around its Norman cathedral and Roman street plan, and home to the Chichester Festival Theatre and a lively run of independent shops, cafés and pubs alongside the usual high street names. The Goodwood estate sits on the downs to the north, with its motor and horse racing calendar. The A27 and A259 handle most local journeys. Fishbourne Roman Palace, with its remarkable mosaic floors, is barely a couple of miles down the road.
