Schools, transport, what’s nearby.
Oakham serves as Rutland's county town, combining market town charm with excellent connectivity. The town centre features independent shops, cafes, and the historic Oakham Castle. For families, Catmose College offers outstanding secondary education, while several well-regarded primary schools serve the area. The A1 provides direct routes to London and the North, with Oakham railway station connecting to Birmingham, Cambridge, and London St Pancras via Leicester. Regular bus services link surrounding villages and nearby Stamford. Shopping needs are covered by Tesco and smaller supermarkets, plus a traditional weekly market. Rutland Water, Europe's largest man-made reservoir, offers sailing, cycling, fishing, and nature reserves. The area attracts families seeking a slower pace of life while maintaining career accessibility, with excellent schools and strong community spirit defining this picturesque location.
