The train station is roughly a five-minute walk, reaching Colchester in about 20 minutes and London Liverpool Street in around an hour and 22 minutes — a genuine draw for commuters. Day-to-day shopping is covered by the village store and butcher, with larger Tesco, Sainsbury's and Aldi stores in Clacton and Colchester. For eating out there are village pubs serving proper Sunday lunches, plus a wider choice in Colchester. The coast is close: Brightlingsea, Frinton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze are all easy drives, and the Essex Way footpath runs nearby for walkers.
