Misterton is a proper working village rather than a commuter dormitory, with a genuine sense of community. Misterton Primary School sits within the village, making the morning school run refreshingly simple, while secondary options are found in Bawtry, Gainsborough and Retford, all a manageable drive away. Day-to-day shopping is covered by a Co-op food store, and there is a pharmacy plus a handful of takeaways, a bakery and traditional village pubs serving food. For a bigger weekly shop or a wider choice of restaurants, Gainsborough and Retford are both close by, with Doncaster offering larger retail parks, the Frenchgate centre and mainline rail connections. The A161 runs past the village and links to the M180, opening up Scunthorpe, the M18 and the wider motorway network. Retford station is the nearest East Coast Main Line stop, with fast trains to London and Leeds. The surrounding Trent-side countryside, canal towpaths and Idle Valley nature reserve make for excellent walking and cycling.
