Widnes sits on the north bank of the Mersey, a town shaped by the chemical industry and still proud of its rugby league roots. Day-to-day needs are close at hand: an Aldi is only a few minutes' walk from the development, with the fuller range of shops, banks and cafés in Widnes town centre a little over a mile off, and a GP surgery within easy reach on foot. The nearest primary school is Moorfield Primary School, barely a third of a mile away, while Wade Deacon High School is the closest secondary, around a mile and a bit distant. Widnes railway station is about a mile off, with services running towards Liverpool and Manchester, and the Mersey Gateway and Silver Jubilee bridges link quickly to Runcorn and the motorway network. For open air, Spike Island and the Sankey Canal give you riverside walking, and the Catalyst Science Discovery Centre beside the old bridge is a genuinely good rainy-afternoon option with children.
