Living in Auchendinny

Auchendinny is a genuinely small Midlothian village, its centre only a few steps from the development, sitting in the steep, wooded valley the North Esk has carved on its way down from the Pentlands. Roslin Glen Country Park is close by, with riverside paths, old gunpowder mill ruins and some of the best woodland walking in the county, and Rosslyn Chapel — with its extraordinary carved interior — is a short hop up the road. The Pentland Hills Regional Park gives you proper hill walking within a short drive. Day-to-day shopping is straightforward, with a Tesco Superstore a little over a mile away and a GP surgery under a mile from home. The nearest primary school is Roslin Primary, about a mile off, and Penicuik High is the closest secondary, roughly two miles away. Eskbank station, five miles or so distant, sits on the line running into Edinburgh, while the A701 and A702 feed onto the city bypass. Penicuik itself, just south, has the fuller range of shops and independent cafés.
