Chepstow is a border town in the best sense, with the River Wye curling past the castle walls and the Welsh side of the Severn estuary opening out below. The Norman castle above the river is one of the oldest stone fortifications in Britain, and the Wye Valley Walk and Offa's Dyke Path both pass close by, with Tintern Abbey a short drive upriver. The town centre is only a few minutes from the development on foot, with its medieval town gate, independent cafés and pubs, and a weekly market tradition that still draws people in. Day-to-day shopping is easy, with a Tesco Superstore barely a few minutes away, and there's a medical centre within walking distance too. The nearest primary school is Offa's Mead Academy, around half a mile off. Chepstow railway station is practically on the doorstep, sitting on the line between South Wales and Gloucester, while the M48 and the old Severn Bridge give quick access across the estuary. Chepstow Racecourse, home of the Welsh Grand National, is a short way out of town.
