Area at a glance
Northampton, at a glance
Schools, transport, what’s nearby.
Northampton offers excellent connectivity as a strategic East Midlands location, with the M1 providing swift access to London, Birmingham, and the North. The town centre features a mix of high street retailers and the Grosvenor Centre shopping complex, while nearby villages offer charming countryside escapes. Educational options include well-regarded primary schools and Northampton School for Boys and Northampton High School for Girls. The mainline railway station connects to London Euston in around an hour, making commuting viable for capital workers. Local dining includes everything from traditional pubs to modern gastropubs and international cuisine. Northampton General Hospital provides healthcare services, while leisure facilities include numerous parks, Northampton Saints rugby ground, and the Royal & Derngate theatre. Major supermarkets like Tesco, ASDA, and Sainsbury's serve the area, alongside independent shops in the historic Market Square.
