Syston has a genuine village centre, with independent shops, cafés, bakeries and pubs along the High Street, plus a Co-op and an Aldi for everyday shopping and larger supermarkets a short drive away in Thurmaston and Leicester. Families are well served by primary options including Syston St Peter and St Paul CofE and Wreake Valley Academy for secondary, with several highly regarded Leicestershire schools within reach. Syston railway station is walkable from much of the village and runs services to Leicester in around ten minutes, with Nottingham and Birmingham also on the line. By car, the A607 and A46 connect quickly to the A6 and M1. For eating out, there's a decent spread of curry houses, Italian restaurants and traditional pubs locally, while Leicester's Highcross centre and restaurant quarter are an easy evening out. Countryside walks and the Soar valley start close by.
