The village centre has a Co-op for daily shopping, a pharmacy, a butcher and a village health centre, with larger supermarkets in Milngavie and Bearsden. Eating out is a genuine strength for a village this size, with the Old Mill, the Black Bull Hotel and the nearby Glengoyne Distillery all popular. By car, the A81 runs south to Bearsden, Milngavie and Glasgow, with the West End around 30 minutes away; Milngavie station offers frequent trains into Glasgow Queen Street. Stirling is roughly 40 minutes east. The West Highland Way, Campsie Fells and Dumgoyne are all within easy reach for walkers.
