Evesham, at a glance

Schools, transport, what’s nearby.

Evesham sits at the heart of the Vale of Evesham, a famously fertile pocket of Worcestershire wrapped in a loop of the River Avon and framed by Bredon Hill to the west and the Cotswold escarpment to the south. It's a proper market town: a compact centre of independent shops, cafés and pubs, a regular market, and the remains of Evesham Abbey, where Abbot Lichfield's Bell Tower still stands over Abbey Park. The Battle of Evesham was fought on the ridge above the town in 1265, and the Almonry tells that story well. Riverside walks, rowing and a weekly parkrun make the Avon the town's social spine. The A46 links quickly to Worcester, Cheltenham and the M5, while rail services run east towards Oxford and London and west into Worcestershire. Come spring, the Vale turns: the Blossom Trail draws visitors through the orchards, and the asparagus season that the area is known for brings its own festival.
